Outreach Options

• Science Café
  • Public presentation of research to a non-academic audience in an informal setting, typically about 15 minutes. (Required)

• Community science

  • Also known as public participation in science, these projects include members of the public in any part of the scientific process, from question generation and data collection to analyses and presentation of results.

• K-12 education program

  • Development and implementation of standards-based lessons, for formal or informal educational settings.

  • Science Roadshow with UW Art Museum

• Art show, exhibition or performance

  • A non-traditional approach to communication of research processes or results. 

• Workshop

  • Share a scientific skill with interested participants of any age. Indoor or outdoor venues, depending on the topic. Some "workshops" may look more like a hike or other outdoor experience.

• Website feature

  • Create a story or "feature" about your research for the Biodiversity Institute website. Stories can be in written format with images, and other multimedia content, or can be in the form of a video or audio podcast.

• Social media campaign

  • Create a social media campaign to be published through the Biodiversity Institute's social media accounts. Plan an account takeover, plan an AMA (ask me anything), or create a series of image and text posts about your research and results for Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
